This event throws a spotlight on the upcoming release of the all-puppet feature film “Yamasong: March of the Hollows” produced by second-generation puppetry artists Heather Henson (Jim Henson’s daughter) and Toby Froud (son of Brian and Wendy Froud – designers for “Dark Crystal” and “Labyrinth”).
This film will be the first non-Muppet puppet feature in North America since “Team America” (2004). It features the voice talent of Nathan Fillion, Whoopi Goldberg, George Takei, Peter Weller, Freida Pinto, Abigail Breslin, Malcolm McDowell, Ed Asner and Bruce Davison.
This event will include multiple film screenings, question and answer session with the film’s creator/director Sam Koji Hale, and sale of merchandise related to the film such as postcards, t-shirts, DVDs of the original short film
“Yamasong” and an art book. Films to be screened include:
- the original award-winning short film “Yamasong”
- a behind-the- scenes video of how the film is created using Japanese-inspired tabletop puppets shot on green screen and composited with digital environments
- an award-winning documentary short about the director’s creative work entitled “Master of the Sky: The Life and Art of Sam Koji Hale”;
a new trailer for the feature film “Yamasong: March of the Hollows”
- a sneak peak of the first 10-20 minutes of the feature film.
