A contemporary chamber opera by Catalan composers Raquel García-Tomás and Joan Magrané and librettist Helen Tornero receives its North American premiere at Theatre Off Jackson. Performed in English and Catalan with English subtitles, disPLACE follows two intertwining stories of love, loss, and belonging as the search for home collides with the forces of gentrification. Co-produced with Rising Waters Collective, this intimate production finds powerful resonance in the International District, a neighborhood that knows exactly what these questions cost.
